Faythe Vaughan, DVM, RSO

Dr. Faythe Vaughan

Since earning her veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984, and completing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery from WSU, Dr. Vaughan has practiced almost exclusively feline internal medicine and surgery. She developed a special interest in hyperthyroidism, while cultivating a ‘family’ of cat-loving clients for 28 years at Cats Exclusive Veterinary Center.

Over the last three decades, hyperthyroidism has become the second-most common metabolic disease in cats, quite possibly triggered by chemicals in our home environments. Dr. Vaughan now dedicates all of her time and attention to treating this current epidemic of hyperthyroidism. She has restored healthy thyroid function to over 20,000 hyperthyroid cats with the gold-standard curative therapy, radioactive iodine 131.

Dr. Vaughan combines her expertise in feline internal medicine and ‘family practice’ with her in-depth knowledge of hyperthyroidism to provide a whole-cat, whole-family approach to guiding therapy for hyperthyroidism in cats that often have complex medical issues. She strives to optimize recovery in cats that often present in fragile health, and to support the humans who love them.

She also actively gathers information about potential causes and prevention of hyperthyroidism from research scientists, and disseminates it to veterinarians and others interested in the health of cats and their human companions. Download The Evolution of Feline Hyperthyroidism 2017 Newsletter.

Her other credentials include being a mother to one fine human as well as an adorable feline family member.
